As we’ve been working our way through The Running Grave week by week, we’ve noticed that it can sometimes be a bit tricky to keep track of the huge cast of characters who lived at Chapman Farm over the decades—and we’ve heard from our listeners that many of you have the same problem! So, we decided to put together a timeline of every important character who resided at Chapman Farm (or Forgeman Farm, as it was previously known) in the time span relevant to The Running Grave. The infographic below shows the complete timeline: who was at Chapman Farm, when, and for how long, as well as the important events that occurred there. We hope you enjoy!

Warning: The infographic below contains spoilers for The Running Grave!

  1. I wander what year Tayo Wace was born. Also what is your view on Dr. Coates? Not only he wasn’t procecuted, but remained on the farm, kept his medical license, went on assaulting children ,and after all was proclaimed prophet(!).
Didn’t Waces have some sense at least not to do this?

  2. What an excellent companion to have when re-reading TRG. Thanks Pools. Happy New Year to you, Lindsay, Kenz and all the S&E fans out there.

  3. Thank you Pools! I was just listening to the podcast promising it – and came to check as suggested 🙂 You said the infographic would be the difficult bit to do but it looks great! A really helpful resource – thank you!!

    1. This is excellent! It helps me organize my thoughts after reading the book! It also makes some of the mistakes JKR made more evident! Like in the prologue, in one of the lawyers’ letters to Kevin, they claim the Birmingham centre was only bought after Margaret Cathcart Bryce died and left her fortune to the UHC… but that was in 2004. And yet, we have Abigail and Becca going to Birmingham in 1995, after Daiyu’s death.

  4. This is great! I’m on my re-read of TRG and I was trying to remember who Mazu’s father was—or if that ever came out? Thank you again for the timeline!

  5. This is amazing and clears up so much for me. The timeline was such a mess in my mind; this makes it so much easier as I reread for the 47th time 🙂

  6. Perfect!

I’m listening to CC again right now, and Strike is thinking about how he and Lucy were in the Norfolk community when they were 8 and 6. Would that make more sense?
